| We know that traveling during the school year may take away from valuable classroom learning, even if it is just for a few days. That's why our Island Explorer Kit is designed for fun and knowledge building at the same time. The Island Explorer Kit contains a two-part workbook -- Friends of the Reef Adventure Guide and Let's Explore Hawaii Guide. Friends of the Reef Adventure Guide was produced in partnership with Jean Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society. It was written by Dr. Richard Murphy, vice president of Science and Education for the Ocean Futures Society. It consists of six lessons covering the ocean, reefs, and shoreline. Upon completion, children are invited to become members of the Ocean Futures Society free of charge. Content for the Let's Explore Hawaii Guide was developed by the University of Hawaii. Both organizations have contributed years of experience to put together these terrific self-directed learning aids for kids of all ages. We encourage parents to get together with their children's teachers to develop a pre-trip fieldwork plan that includes our Island Explorer Kit. |
